Hi! Welcome to my new blog: Vogue and a Latte. So glad you stopped by to check it out.
I have been contemplating a blog change for a while now. Forge A Frenzy just didn’t seem to describe me any more.
FaF was a brand new venture for me when I first started. It was stepping out of my comfort zone and trying to be bold in an area that I knew basically nothing about. I was trying to take my love for fashion and my eye for photos and put them all in one place. I didn’t really know how I would fall in love with blogging and how challenged I would be with this new passion. Blogging is not easy folks. Coming up with content, along with living your busy life, is something that takes time and perseverance. For me, that looked like taking my life and molding it into one that I could easily create content from. Combining what I already did/do daily and turning that into what my blog and brand is about.
I am extremely thankful for Forge A Frenzy. And I am extremely thankful that I no longer have to say my blog name and then respond to blank stares by quickly describing how and why I chose my blog name and what it means to me.
V&L is going to have a lot of the same content as Forge A Frenzy, and a lot of new content as well. New topics, new research; posts based on things I want to share and topics you all want to hear about. As per usual, if you clicked through for outfit details, scroll through to “SHOP THE POST” and click on an item that grabs your eye.
The New Year always causes me to stop and examine my life and everything that I have been blessed with. I’ve been trying to write this post for a few days now, and each time I try to write a sentence on how this year encompasses joy, happiness, and peace for me, I fall short. I always say that I can write how I feel, much better than I can say it. This is just not the case for this year. I have met people who have changed my life. I have had experiences that have changed my life. I have had perspectives that changed my life. I have lived in two vibrant and alive places that are filled with people who surround me, support me, and lift me up. They encourage me to be the best version of myself and showed me that I have the potential to be something great.
In 2017 I became the person that I always wanted to be. The person that I always saw when I looked into my early 20’s. And it shocked me. I set goals, and reached them. I saw parts of myself that I didn’t like, and so I changed them.
I learned to love myself. I learned to work harder than I thought possible and enjoy the rewards that come when you do so. I learned about self-control. I learned about budgeting. I learned that being an adult means making hard choices in order to reap benefits in the long run. I also learned that being an adult doesn’t mean that you have it all together. I learned to push past that inner voice telling me that I couldn’t do it.
Whatever “it” may be for you, you can, in fact, do it.
Ever have one of those weeks where it goes TOTALLY different than what you anticipate? Yea that was this week for me. This blog is going to have a little bit about sweaters and a little bit about life.
PSA: If you clicked on my blog post solely for sweater details, scroll down to the “Shop This Post” feed and view all of my sweater picks!!
I am SO pumped to be able to get back to doing what I love. Creating, writing, taking pictures, and wearing super cute outfits that I get to share with y’all.
Sweater dresses with OTK boots are my jam right now.
This last week has been crazzzzzzzy. I feel like they all are kind of, but this one especially. I had a super busy work week, weekend, and an ever growing to-do list. I have a lot of secret plans that I’m working on that I will hopefully be able to share with you guys in the next few months. Change is coming, y’all.
In today’s post I am wearing two different shirts with one skirt (obviously) but it’s because I loved this skirt so much and couldn’t decide which shirt I wanted to showcase so I was like, what the heck, I’ll just post them both!
Mini-skirts are BACK and I couldn’t be happier about it. I love the style of these skirts and how they are fun, flirty, and can basically go with anything. This particular one is from Urban Outfittersand has double zips that actually zip up and down. Risky? Perhaps. But it makes for a super cool look.
I paired this skirt with my Y’all shirt from Citizen Supply for the first look with this skirt. I love Citizen Supply, it is the coolest space in Ponce City Market. So many different areas and handmade goods as well as places to shoot as well. This shirt is from the brand In God We Must, which obviously speaks to my soul. I could probably get this shirt in every color and wear them all of the time and be content. They have so many other cool products and you should totally check them out!
I also wore this skirt with my star shirt from Urban Outfitters. They both have a similar style but different colors and feels to them. I love simplicity and this pretty plain but super cute shirt takes care of that. I don’t like to have TOO much going on in my outfits. One statement piece (aka a skirt with double zippers) and a more tame second piece is how I style my looks.
I wore my with these looks but we didn’t get a shot with them in it! ):
To be honest, I have so much content that I want to write about but I haven’t had any time to write. Blogging is such a creative outlet for me and something that I love doing, but life has really been getting in the way of me being able to do just that. Getting home from work too tired, choosing working out over resting, then spending time with friends and in community over writing, then resting because I’m exhausted when I could be writing.
Being busy definitely has fun aspects. Creating new memories, always having something going on, getting out of the house and getting new content ideas. But when you don’t have time for the things that are really important to you, it’s time to take a second and evaluate what your priorities are and what matters to you in the long-run.
If everything you’re doing matters to you and you thrive on constantly doing things, then that is excellent! More power to you! I am unfortunately not blessed with such gifts. So, I am prioritizing the things that I have to do and the things that I GET to do and where they all fit. Thank Jesus for the weekends is all I have to say. I need time to myself to recharge and having a constantly full planner makes it hard to do that.
It’s time to reevaluate my daily schedule and make room for the important stuff. Updates shall be given.
While I’m getting my priorities of life together (does anyone really ever have them all together????), follow me on my social media for more day-to-day happenings! Aka lots of photos of the cutest 1 year old you will ever see and my tiny toy yorkie poodle.
Wow it has been a good two weeks since I have last posted and that is a PROBLEM!! As you know, I went to Atlanta and once again had a fabulous time with all of my friends in one of my favorite cities. Atlanta is growing to be such an incredible place filled with art and trends and never ending places to explore. So much of my heart is in that city.
If you follow me on social media, you know that I have been sick all week. And it has NOT been fun. I have been working so hard that I have overworked myself, not gotten enough sleep, pushed myself to far, and as a result, gotten sick. My body needs sleep and sometimes I try to avoid that and it fights back. And on the other hand, trying to not do anything just doesn’t work for me. So I have had to take a few steps back, skip spin class some days, not look at my computer 24/7, and just breathe. And drink a LOT of Emergen-C.
So that is why there will only be one post this week, the highly anticipated (lol) Friday product post!!
We’re gonna keep it short and sweet, because of the previous statements.
TooFaced products rock. They just do. All of them. And my first encounter with their products was their Melted Lipstick line, which is phenomenal. They have since created Melted Chocolate, Melted Matte, Melted Metals, and Melted Latex.
Melted Latex looks exactly like what you think it would. Shiny and glossy and fabulous. I am in love with the formula, the application, and the overall wear. Not one you can keep on through meals and such, but perfect for a night out or adding a touch of color and shine to complete your look.
I got the shade Peekaboo and have been wearing it nonstop because it is the perfect pink for my skin tone!
I have the Melted Lipstick in Chiuhaha and the Melted Matte in Queen B and people literally stop me while I’m wearing them to ask what shade and what brand.
MAKEUP TIP: When you’re doing you’re makeup, blend your foundation onto your lips as well, so your lips are the same color as your face. It takes away the color of your lips and allows the color from your lipstick or gloss to be accurate and wonderful.
Nothing brightens up the weekend like a new shade to rock out with your girlfriends or brunching on the town. I would love to know if you try out any of their products!!
FYI, not a sponsored post! Just truly love me so TooFaced products.
Lotttsssss of fun things happening this weekend so stay updated on socials! (@MadisonCrowley)
I got my new vlog camera and it’s honestly been lifechanging… this weekend is going to be so much fun testing it out!!!!!
It has been so long since I have been able to actually post a fun look on the blog! I have been extremely busy, as I’m sure you all are, and shooting a look has, unfortunately, been at the bottom of the to-do list. Which SUCKS because it’s one of my favorite parts of the blog. I feel like life definitely goes in phases of being super busy and then having tons of down time… I am obviously currently in the first category. But, to be honest, it feels really good to work your butt off and see results. Whether that means my blog or my health. Results and success are so motivating.
It’s the end of the week and what brightens the weekend more than a brand new beauty product that you can look forward to showing up on your doorstep early next week when you are hitting that workweek slump… Nothing. Enter: Glossier Super Pure.
This potion (yes, I just said potion because it is a mixture that works wonders) contains Niacinamide and and Zinc PCA. If you’re like me when I first read those words, you are confused but also curious. So, I did a little bit of reading. According to the Glossier website, Niacinamide is, “also known as Vitamin B3” and, it has a, “powerful soothing action at the source of redness.” And the other key ingredient to this serum, Zinc PCA, “penetrates pores to help clear out impurities and excess sebum that can cause blemishes. Adding zinc is like giving your skin a calming massage to help it rest, recharge, and let go of built-up agitation.” And man, are these mixtures magical!
Glossier also claims that Super Pure is “hypoallergenic, dermatologist-tested, paraben free, fragrance free, appropriate for all skin types, cruelty free.” All of those claims are super bold but shows the confidence that Glossier has in their products! And you guys know how important cruelty free products are to me.
Period breakouts? Apply some serum. Eat a bunch of fries? Apply this serum. Day drink with your bffs all weekend? This serum is for you!!
I mean really, I notice a difference the day after I use it. I wash my face at night before I head to bed and I let the serum settle in and when I wake up in the morning, there is a noticeable reduction of redness on my face!
So happy Friday and I hope you enjoy your magical serum! As usual, if you bought this product and LOVED it like I did, I want to hear! <3
