How to Fly Spirit Airlines with One Carry-On and Enjoy It.

One carry-on? Yup. You read that right. Shocking, especially if you know me.

I am here to share the in’s and out’s of flying with Spirit, how I prepped, my experience, and why I would 100% do it again.

Before booking my roundtrip Spirit flight from LAX to Atlanta (for only $167 I might add… that is unheard of, honestly) I did a little research. I wanted to make sure that I knew exactly what I was getting myself into and where I needed to set my expectations. I read a few awesome blog posts (like this one) and figured I was ready to take the plunge. I didn’t have anywhere to be, technically, until the morning after my flight, so I was accepting any potential delay and clicked “confirm purchase” on the website. A couple of things that I did when purchasing this flight:

Everything you need to know about blowouts ⏤ Straight from an expert.

Hi! So excited you decided to stop by V&L today. How ya doin? Hope you’re well and your day includes something you love.

I am sitting here with a tallll glass of ice water with a drop of lemon essential oil in it, and I am here to chat about blowouts. We all love ’em, we all need ’em, and sometimes we can’t afford ’em, which totally sucks. Honestly a picturesque morning for me starts with blowouts at Drybar and iced lattes from Nordstrom followed by wandering through the displays gathering ideas and inspo. Sounds ideal. Blowouts make me feel like a boss babe and I wanted to get all of the details on how to get the perfect blowout at home during those weeks we can’t make it to the salon.

I sat down with hairstylist Emma Weber for a trim and a blowout and asked her allll the juicy details about blowouts and what the perfect recipe for an at-home blowout is, all while sipping a venti iced caramel macchiato ( with soy of course ) and documenting the process with pics.

Atlanta On My Mind

Welcome back to Forge A Frenzy!!!

WOW. It has been way too long since I have even had a moment to spare to on my favorite pastime. My life has been up in the air and in the past month has taken so many unexpected turns. I figured I would write a post with updates since everyone has the same questions for me. First off: NO, I am not stopping blogging, I still love it just as much as ever!! New content WILL be back soon!!

I have moved back to Atlanta. This has been a surprise to some, but has been on my mind for a while. California is magical. It holds beauty and beaches and sunshine and palm trees and much more. It is a place where I grew exponentially. Where I learned about myself in ways I didn’t know that I needed to learn. And I loved it there, truly. I think that is something people have been asking me a lot about and I think people feel that I have had a negative experience. That could not be more false. I have made life long friends here. I have made memories I will never forget. And apparently gotten more cheesy. LOL. But a LOT of my heart is in Atlanta. A lot of it. I spent a lot of time in the word and in prayer and seeking guidance for the right path to take. And I know that after spending more time in California, it would begin to feel a lot more like home. But I took a good look at my heart and my thoughts and tried to get to the bottom of where I wanted to be.

Two Shirts, One Skirt

Happy hump day, people!!

This last week has been crazzzzzzzy. I feel like they all are kind of, but this one especially. I had a super busy work week, weekend, and an ever growing to-do list. I have a lot of secret plans that I’m working on that I will hopefully be able to share with you guys in the next few months. Change is coming, y’all.

In today’s post I am wearing two different shirts with one skirt (obviously) but it’s because I loved this skirt so much and couldn’t decide which shirt I wanted to showcase so I was like, what the heck, I’ll just post them both!

Mini-skirts are BACK and I couldn’t be happier about it. I love the style of these skirts and how they are fun, flirty, and can basically go with anything. This particular one is from Urban Outfitters and has double zips that actually zip up and down. Risky? Perhaps. But it makes for a super cool look.

I paired this skirt with my Y’all shirt from Citizen Supply for the first look with this skirt. I love Citizen Supply, it is the coolest space in Ponce City Market. So many different areas and handmade goods as well as places to shoot as well. This shirt is from the brand In God We Must, which obviously speaks to my soul. I could probably get this shirt in every color and wear them all of the time and be content. They have so many other cool products and you should totally check them out!

I also wore this skirt with my star shirt from Urban Outfitters. They both have a similar style but different colors and feels to them. I love simplicity and this pretty plain but super cute shirt takes care of that. I don’t like to have TOO much going on in my outfits. One statement piece (aka a skirt with double zippers) and a more tame second piece is how I style my looks.

I wore my with these looks but we didn’t get a shot with them in it! ):

To be honest, I have so much content that I want to write about but I haven’t had any time to write. Blogging is such a creative outlet for me and something that I love doing, but life has really been getting in the way of me being able to do just that. Getting home from work too tired, choosing working out over resting, then spending time with friends and in community over writing, then resting because I’m exhausted when I could be writing.

Being busy definitely has fun aspects. Creating new memories, always having something going on, getting out of the house and getting new content ideas. But when you don’t have time for the things that are really important to you, it’s time to take a second and evaluate what your priorities are and what matters to you in the long-run.

If everything you’re doing matters to you and you thrive on constantly doing things, then that is excellent! More power to you! I am unfortunately not blessed with such gifts. So, I am prioritizing the things that I have to do and the things that I GET to do and where they all fit. Thank Jesus for the weekends is all I have to say. I need time to myself to recharge and having a constantly full planner makes it hard to do that.

It’s time to reevaluate my daily schedule and make room for the important stuff. Updates shall be given.

While I’m getting my priorities of life together (does anyone really ever have them all together????), follow me on my social media for more day-to-day happenings! Aka lots of photos of the cutest 1 year old you will ever see and my tiny toy yorkie poodle.

‘Til next time,Autumn in November

Roll Out Of Bed Style

Hi everyone!!!

Wow it has been a good two weeks since I have last posted and that is a PROBLEM!! As you know, I went to Atlanta and once again had a fabulous time with all of my friends in one of my favorite cities. Atlanta is growing to be such an incredible place filled with art and trends and never ending places to explore. So much of my heart is in that city.

Packing Essentials: Atlanta Bound

Hi babes, welcome back to Forge A Frenzy!

Today I am going to be discussing the items I always include when packing and the things that are always on my to-do list before I leave on a trip.

★ Items I always make sure to have:
→ Makeup stock
I love makeup and I tend to go through my favorite products pretty fast, so I always make sure that I have all of my faves stocked up for when I travel. Nothing worse than reaching for your shape tape and realizing it’s out and you don’t have time to run to Sephora before the nights festivities.

→ Travel pack protein + meal replacement shakes
As I am slowly changing my lifestyle to reflect healthy eating habits (emphasis on slowly), replacing a few meals with healthy shakes and replenishing my body with good nutrients after a work out have become CRUCIAL parts of my day. Isagenix products are my FAVE and they come in convenient little pouches with the exact amount of powder you need to pour in your shaker bottle and go. I feel like on the go health is a consistent theme in my life… My favorite flavor is strawberry but during holiday season they have an eggnog flavor that is to DIE for. I also always have almonds or peanuts with me. If I get too hungry, I lose all self-control when it comes to eating so I like having nuts with me as a quick fix until I can get to a healthy option.

→ A physical book or have one downloaded on my iPad
I love watching movies and getting work done in airports, but sometimes it’s nice to just read a freakin’ book. I like using my kindle on my iPad when I don’t have time to go grab a physical copy of the book I want before I leave, but I really love the feeling of having an actual book in my hands. For long travel, a kindle/iPad is more efficient because you can have lots of reading material without taking up a ton of space, but for a week long trip, one book is generally enough for me! Right now I am reading Uninvited by Lysa TerKeurst and it gives me chill bumps almost every chapter. She speaks right into insecurity and how Jesus wants us to feel desired and wanted. It’s a fantastic read.

→ Digestive assistance
I didn’t really know what else to call this… You guys know I have major digestive/stomach problems when it comes to eating and dairy. I am lactose intolerant and potentially intolerant to many other things that I have not yet discovered. Traveling makes this so much worse! I generally eat worse and I drink more alcohol and I am not exercising as much so all of that combined does not lend itself to great digestive health. I asked my God-sister Kelsea for advice on products to use to not experience those problems this trip and she gave me a few options and from those options I purchased a few:

Natural Vitality Natural Calm Anti-Stress Drink (wow that’s a mouthful) – Basically, this is a magnesium supplement that you can put in warm water or in a water bottle when you head out the door to increase magnesium in your body which is suuuuper helpful for good digestion. My favorite blogger, Payton Sartain of Hustle + Halcyon, wrote a whole post on magnesium that I will link here. I like this product because it is super easy to travel with and drink on the go.
▷ Nature’s Way Activated Charcoal Supplement – Charcoal is becoming a very well-known and active ingredient in a lot of drinks/foods and beauty supplies. I will admit I haven’t done THAT much research but I plan on doing a whole post on the benefits of it beyond helping with digestion. It whitens teeth, relieves bloating, removes toxins, clears your skin, I mean I could go on and on. And I will, in a separate post!

I’m Back, Y’all.

HI! Happy Monday and welcome back to Forge A Frenzy!

It has been two long weeks since I have last posted and wowza, life has been crazy. I took an unintentional hiatus from Forge A Frenzy over the last two weeks due to two life events: Moving from Newport Beach to Huntington Beach, and a much needed trip to Atlanta to see my dearly missed friends.

All of that being said, life is finally settling back down to normalcy. I am figuring out my new commute to work, unpacking tons of boxes, and scouring Pinterest for room inspiration ideas. And I got a pedicure. Pedicures always put life back on track.

I have two fun looks coming up on Forge A Frenzy, this one and another that will be posted shortly, but after that there are going to be some home/interior posts coming because that is where my hard earned money is going towards these next few weeks. I have slowly but surely been redoing the furnishings in my room and I have some cute DIY’s (that don’t look like DIY’s) that I am going to be tackling. The rest is a mix and match of HomeGoods finds and Target scores. I like to get the best bang for my buck and those two places have really been helping me out.

On top of that, I have tons of new places to add to my Atlanta food + drink guide that I will be summing up in a post as well as adding to my Atlanta Travel Guide page. Such exciting stuff!!!
